Saturday Snapshots 0

It’s been an entire week since I’ve posted any pictures!!  Sorry Grandmas!!  We’ve been busy this week getting ready for the garage sale that the SNOW this past weekend put a damper on, but I also had a glitch with Adobe Photoshop that I had to get Micah to help with!  Something was wrong and I couldn’t post any pictures without shrinking them (or whatever I do with them in Adobe!) first.  Anyway, here’s some pictures from yesterday.  I didn’t take any pictures this morning – my camera was in the car and we were running late!

Daddy put pigtails in Kessed’s hair Friday and she LOVED it. (Yes, Micah actually fixed Kessed hair and did a pretty good job, I might add!)   It’s her favorite new hairstyle!  She’s beginning to ask us for pigtails now!  It’s so cute!  Once again, these pictures are unique because in one of them, yes, Kessed is smiling BIG!!  She’s also sportin’ one (of many, many) new shirts that she and Grace got from Grandma Cheryl.  They both got fabulous packages from her last week with tons of new shirts and matching dresses.  I can’t wait for them to wear their new dresses when it gets warmer (though we’re beginning to wonder if spring will ever arrive, let alone summer!!). :)

Sunday Snapshots 2

I couldn’t have possibly gotten good Sunday Snapshots two weeks in a row………..these aren’t the greatest pictures, but the girls make them cute nonetheless!  It probably wasn’t quite warm enough to wear sandals today, but the girls have been dying to wear their sandals (and they did get the toenails and fingernails painted by Tracy Lindley, as the had us over for dinner Friday evening) – so we wore them anyway!

Kessed ponders her big sister :)

Making Cookies with Grandma 0

Sounds like a “Grandma-ish” thing to do!! I’m not big on baking, as I’ve said before, but it’s something that the girls have so much fun with! I’m so thankful for my mom, Grandma Cheryl, Aunt Bekah, Aunt Kim, Grandma Gee Gee, Ms. Sherry and all the other people who are more adventurous than I when it comes to baking with a 2- and 4-year-old! I do love to let the girls help me in the kitchen with preparing meals, but I just don’t like messing with flour and sugar and eggs! I just like to be the photographer when someone else bakes with my girls! :) Anyway, here’s some pretty cute pictures of Grace and Kessed making Grandma Vera’s famous (in my book anyway!) Sugar Cookies. I’ve included the recipe at the end if anyone’s interested in trying them!

Kessed get the cookie cutters ready! They make a great bracelet, ya know!

Kessed’s tired of making cookies – let’s just eat the dough!

Ready for the oven

Watching and waiting

Grandma Vera’s Sugar Cookies

1 C. shortening

2 C. sugar

2 Eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

1/2 tsp. lemon flavor

Sift together:

1 tsp. salt

5 tsp. baking powder

Makes A LOT of cookies

Buttercream Frosting:

Soften 1/2 Cup margarine. Stir in 2 C. powdered sugar and add 1 tsp. vanilla. If too thin, add drops of water; if too thick, add more powdered sugar until desired consistency.
